Use Warm Water: Start by splashing your face or body with lukewarm water. Warm water slightly expands the entryways of your pores and helps soften the hardened oils (sebum) on the skin's surface. This allows the French clay to effectively bind to excess surface oils and daily grime so they can be easily rinsed away.

Create the Lather: Rub the bar between your wet hands or onto a washcloth to build up that dense, lotion-like foam.

Massage & Rinse: Gently massage the creamy lather into your skin using circular motions. Because soap is a wash-off product, it doesn't need to sit on your skin to work—the natural surfactants simply grab onto dirt and oil, lifting them away the moment you rinse with clean water.

The Science of a Clean Rinse
While leave-on products like masks have hours to sink into the skin, a well-formulated cold-process soap works beautifully in the span of a 60-second wash.

French clay carries a natural negative ionic charge, while the daily dirt, pollution, and dead skin cells on your body carry a positive charge. Like a temporary magnet, the clay binds to these surface impurities. When you rinse, the soap molecules wrap around both the clay and the softened oils, sweeping them down the drain without stripping your skin's deeper, vital moisture barrier.

Most "soaps" in the store aren't actually soap—they are chemical detergents. Cold process soap is made by mixing oils and lye, which triggers a natural chemical reaction called saponification.

Natural Glycerin: In mass-market soaps, the glycerin (a natural humectant that pulls moisture into the skin) is often stripped out to be sold separately in expensive lotions. In cold process soap, the glycerin stays in the bar, making it naturally moisturizing.

The "Cure" Time: Cold process soap is "cured" for 4–6 weeks. This evaporation process makes the bar harder and longer-lasting, ensuring you get a dense, creamy lather rather than a mushy mess.

No Synthetic Foaming Agents: It doesn’t rely on SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) to create bubbles. The lather comes from the natural fats, like coconut or olive oil.
Biodegradable: Unlike liquid body washes filled with microplastics and synthetic thickeners, cold process soap is fully biodegradable.

Zero Waste: It usually comes in paper packaging (or none at all), helping to "ditch the plastic bottle."

Cold process method allows for "super-fatting." This means extra oils are added so that even though the claysand beetroot are working hard, the soap leaves a protective thin layer of oil behind.
